McKenna Wohlhutter is a dedicated and positive swimmer! She enjoys helping the younger swimmers and also spending her time with her friends on the swim team. She is actively involved in both summer and winter swim teams, FFA, and dance. At practice, she always works hard and is striving to improve. We are lucky to have McKenna on the Harlan Hurricanes Swim Club!

Eagan Berndt is an outstanding and hardworking swimmer! He always shows up to practice, never complains, and even makes time to practice early when his schedule is packed. He is involved in summer and winter swim team, Harlan and Phantom basketball, baseball, football, student council, and youth group. Eagan is a positive role model and fantastic teammate for all Harlan Hurricane swimmers!

Emeri is a fantastic role model and coach! She stays on top of her responsibilities as a junior at Harlan High School but also takes the time to guide and help the younger swimmers as an assistant coach. Her dedication to being prepared, showing up early, and always maintaining a positive attitude speaks volumes about her work ethic and leadership. It’s undeniable that the swimmers are lucky to have someone like her to help them improve their swimming abilities.

Josie is an outstanding member of the Harlan Hurricanes Swim Club. Her nomination as an all-star swimmer is well-deserved. Her constant smile, dedication to attending practice, positive attitude towards teammates, hard work, and ability to have fun truly make a difference. We are lucky to have her as a part of our team. Josie also participates in volleyball, both school and club, winter and summer swim teams, and track. We appreciate Josie’s dedication and desire to make herself and those around her better all the time. Keep up the fantastic work, Josie!

Your hard work, leadership, and friendly demeanor have truly made a difference in our swimming team. Not only are you an all-star nominee and a role model for your teammates, but you also excel in various other activities like Mock Trial, student council, football, basketball, wrestling, jazz band, Math Counts, track, and volunteer work at St. Michael's church youth group. Your charm and kindness make you a true "LADIES MAN," but most importantly, you are a valued friend to all. Thank you for being an exceptional individual both in and out of the pool!

Deb has been a tremendous contributor to the Harlan Swim Club since it was started in 2017. She is always willing to help coach at meets and practices. She has made many contributions to the team over the years with her time and assisting the team with obtaining swim blocks and a pace clock. Emeri Smith is a Freshman student at Harlan Community High School and has swam for Harlan Swim Club since 2017. Emeri swam this past fall for the Council Bluffs High School Swim Team and has been part of the Harlan Swim Club for the past 6 years. She comes to each practice and meets ready to work hard and lead by example. We love having Emeri’s quiet leadership and attitude as part of our team. She is a consistent hard worker and always treats coaches and teammates with respect.
Outside of swimming, Emeri contributes to her school and community of Harlan, Iowa through involvement with Track, Student Council, Baton, Choir, Show Choir, Church Choir, LYO, and Competition Dance. We are fortunate to have Emeri as part of our team and love the example she sets for the rest of the team!

Ben Schmitz is an 8th grade student at Harlan Community Middle School and has swam for the Harlan Swim Club since 2017. Ben is a consistent leader for the rest of the swimmers on the team. He has been a steady attendee at practice each year and been a consistent performer at meets. Since 2017, Ben is the only male swimmer to qualify for the state meet every year.
When he’s not swimming, Ben is actively involved in soccer, First Baptist Church Youth Group, Math Counts, and Middle School Mock Trial. Ben has been a model of consistency to the Harlan Swim Club and we appreciate the example he is to our other swimmers!

Ainsley Mages is an 8th grade student at Harlan Community Middle School and has swam for the Harlan Swim Club since 2017. In addition to being a standout athlete, Ainsley also assists in coaching the younger swimmers on the team. She takes great pride in leading her young swimmers and they love having a role model to look up to. We appreciate her sharing her knowledge and kindness with our swimmers, along with her hard work and great performance as a swimmer on our team.

Kara Wingert is a 7th-grade student at Tri-Center Community Schools and has swum for Harlan Swim Club since 2017. Kara is known for her infectious positive attitude and kindness to everyone she knows. She is a tremendous leader on our team with her work ethic and friendliness to everyone.
Outside of swimming, Kara contributes to her school and community of Neola, Iowa, through involvement with her church youth group and as a volunteer at the Neola Phoenix Theater. Kara is an active member in the Tri-Center Chorus and plays volleyball for Tri-Center and Attack Volleyball.
We are lucky to have Kara as a swimmer on the Harlan Swim Club team and love seeing her smiling face throughout the season!

Landon Nihsen is a 7th grade student at Harlan Community Middle School and has swam for the Harlan Swim Club since 2019. Landon is a steady example of athleticism and commitment as a swimmer. Landon balances a busy schedule and still finds a way to lead by example as a valued member of our team.
When he’s not swimming, Landon is actively involved in 4H, FFA, trap shooting, soccer, football, basketball, band, jazz band, track, student council, and serves at his church at St. Mary’s in Panama, Iowa. Landon brings his best effort to every activity he is involved in while balancing a wide variety of service and participation.
Landon is a valuable part of our team and leads by example in all that he does.

Aurora Miller is a Junior at Harlan Community High School and a first year member of the Harlan Swim Club. Aurora joins us this year as a swimmer and assistant coach after many years swimming in the GISL with Carroll, Harlan Summer Swim Team, and Council Bluffs High School Swim Team.
Aurora has taken a lead role in organizing team practices this season and pushing our swimmers to become the best they can be. Aurora has been a High School Girls State Swimming qualifier twice and holds school records in the 100 Breast and as part of relay teams in the 200 Medley Relay, 200 Free Relay, and 400 Free Relay.
As a swimmer and coach, we are grateful for the experience, knowledge, and dependability Aurora brings to our team and the Harlan community.

Adelyn Berndt is a 5th-grade student at Harlan Community Schools and has swam for Harlan Swim Club since 2017. Adelyn is a leader by example through her hard work in the pool. Adelyn has exemplified the character that the Harlan Swim Club values in her years of swimming and the additional work she puts in towards becoming better outside of practice.
Adelyn is busy being involved in a large number of activities outside of swimming. BYF youth group, 4-H (recreational leader 2 years), Chorus, Band, Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, Kindness Club Leader, and Battle of the Books are some of the other areas where Adelyn demonstrates her talents and leadership.
We are grateful to have Adelyn as a member of our team and appreciate her work ethic and efforts to make everyone around her better!

Eli Schmitz is an eighth-grade student at Harlan Community Middle School and has swum for the Harlan Swim Club since its beginning in 2017. Since the beginning, Eli has been an example of dedication towards being the best swimmer he can be and helping others improve in the process.
When he’s not swimming, Eli is involved in BYF Youth Group, soccer, track, and helping his family. Eli is an extremely caring and hard-working individual. When there is a job to be done, Eli is the driving force to get a project finished, and he takes pride in making sure things are done right and on time.
Eli’s quiet leadership is a great addition to our swim team!

Katie Arentson, mom of Jameson, Owen, and McKenna, has volunteered as an assistant coach for the Harlan Swim Club over the past four years. She is an irreplaceable asset to our team in helping with our younger swimmers and is quick to jump in and help when necessary. We value all she does for our swimmers in and out of the pool and appreciate her willingness to make our swimmers the best they can be!

Ainsley Mages is a 5th-grade student at Harlan Community Schools and has swum for Harlan Swim Club since 2017. Ainsley embodies the persistence, work ethic, and leadership that we hope to have in all of our swimmers. Ainsley has worked extremely hard in her swimming career to improve not only herself, but also others around her. She’s constantly cheering on teammates and leading others by example. This season, she has volunteered to assist in coaching the younger swimmers and has loved every minute of it. She loves seeing the swimmers she helps coach grow stronger and improve their skills and times. Several are participating in the state swim meet, and she is so proud of them!
Ainsley is very active outside of swimming, also. At her church, she helps to serve funeral lunches, serves as an altar server, works at the church's Parish Picnic, and serves when needed and where asked. Ainsley has been a Relay For Life Team Captain raising funds for the American Cancer Society for the last three years after serving as a team member previously. Under Ainsley’s term, the team created a “Princess Prom” where elementary school girls and a “date of their choice” attend a fun afternoon and raise funds to fight cancer.
Ainsley has helped with the Kindness Club in her elementary school and has seen an improvement in how the students treat each other. She has also been a reading buddy for two years, helping in the first-grade rooms, helping beginning readers get some extra practice. Ainsley works extremely hard in the classroom, community, and in the pool, and our team is better for having her as a part of it!

Kaiden Milliken is a Freshman at Harlan Community High School and has swam for the Harlan Swim Club since its beginning in 2017. Kaiden has grown tremendously in his maturity in and out of the pool over the past three years and we are excited to see his future growth. Kaiden is always friendly and polite at practice and comes ready to work hard while respecting his teammates. He has balanced his GISL swimming while participating as a member of the Council Bluffs boys’ swim team this past winter. When able, he helps to assist guiding the younger swimmers during their practice session.
Kaiden helps serve & song lead during church services. He also voluntarily serves at church activities such as funeral meals or visitor days and with youth activities such as leaf raking and yard work for the elderly.
Kaiden mentors 2nd graders during his study hall while remaining a 4.0 student. He is active in many different school activities: choir, All-State choir, mock trial, track, cross country, swimming, and piano. Kaiden is extremely committed to excellence while competing on varsity teams, earning superior ratings in piano, and earning outstanding witness and lawyer recognitions for mock trial. We are lucky to have him as a part of the Harlan Swim Club!

Aubri Smith is a Junior at Harlan Community High School and has swam for the Harlan Swim Club since its beginning in 2017, and has also begun coaching our younger swimmers starting in 2019-20. Aubri has been a tremendous member of our coaching staff with her ability to work with the younger swimmers. With her experience from swimming as a member of the Council Bluffs girls’ swim team, she has been a leader for the senior group. She helps to keep everyone focused on workouts and respectful of each other. We are extremely appreciative of Aubri and her contributions to the Harlan Swim Club.

Aubri has shown outstanding character this season. She has been involved as a member of the Harlan Swim Club since it began in 2017. As one of six sisters involved with the team, Aubri is a great role model to her younger sisters and teammates with hard work, respect, and determination. She has worked many extra hours on her own to earn a regional qualifying time and has exemplified dedication to reach lofty goals.
Aubri somehow finds a way to devote many hours to the pool while balancing her other activities. She is involved in gymnastics, ballet, and track while holding a 3.98 GPA in school, and she works hard in all of her endeavors. Aubri is a quiet, steady leader and a valuable part of the Harlan Swim Club.

Stephen is a tremendous member of the Harlan Swim Club. He has been involved in the Harlan Swim Club for the first two seasons of its existence and has swam as part of the Harlan Summer Swim Team for the past two years. Stephen has been a great leader through his work ethic at practice and willingness to lead and teach others on the team. When he is available, Stephen volunteers his time to help with our 10-and-under practice group and encourages the younger swimmers to become better through his coaching and demonstrating.
Stephen shows support for all of his teammates, regardless of age. Whether it is putting in extra time at practice or giving an extra swim cap to a six-year-old who broke theirs, he is dependable in providing what is needed to help others succeed. Stephen is involved in track, soccer, baseball, and football, and is an active member of St. Michael’s Parish in Harlan.

Braydi has swam or assisted as a coach for the Harlan Swim Club over the past two seasons. Although she did not swim this season, she has continued assisting with swimmers in the 10-and-under session practice. With a constant friendly smile, swimmers love her helpful personality and always attempt to have her lead their lane in practice. The Harlan coaches are grateful for her dependability and presence as part of the team and the work and commitment she has offered over the past two seasons. The team will miss her next year when she attends Iowa State University.
